Mini Vacation 2012

Since we have two Spring Breaks (one for Snow College, which means Steve is home at night, and one for the middle school, which means Steve is home during the day), we can't really go on an extended vacation. So we decided to have a mini-vacation in Salt Lake- complete with a stay in a hotel.

We started of with a visit to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy. I didn't get many good pictures of the residents, but the kids loved it. Otters, penguins, sharks, manta rays, and more. They are building a new facility which will open next Spring, so plan on going before October.

After the aquarium, we went to our hotel and enjoyed the swimming pool for a while. We were all enjoying the pool, so there are no pictures of that part of our adventure. That night, Steve's parents watched the kids while Steve and I went for dinner and saw Zorro the Musical at the Hale Center Theater in West Valley. Steve's good friend from high school is playing Zorro. It is the first time the show has been performed in the US and it is fantastic. Incredible music and dancing.

After more swimming the next morning, we headed to Trax to "ride the train". Josh loved it.

Abby wasn't very excited about it until she could see out the window.

Once we were downtown, we headed to the Church History Museum. They have a new exhibit about the Book of Mormon that has lots of interactive things for kids. It was kind of a zoo, but the kids loved it.

 

And of course we walked around beautiful Temple Square. It was a fantastic day, and I love seeing Josh's face light up when he sees the temple. He kept saying that he wanted to get married in the temple too.

We wrapped things up by getting some lettuce wraps from P.F. Changs. All in all, it was a pretty wonderful vacation.
