Olives, Anyone?

Tonight for dinner we made mini pizzas. Instead of eating the olives, Josh decided to put them on his Lightning McQueen car to make him look like when he has the tires on his face in the movie (just before he ruins the road...) Pretty perceptive, huh! Oh- the pizzas were also delicious (even if Josh only eats the pepperonis- not just pepperoni pizza- just the pepperonis themselves.)

Short Update

Just a short update to let you all know how the pregnancy is going- I went to the doctor this week and we listened to heart tones and the baby sounds fine. No more problems, so hopefully it won't happen again! I'm off bed rest (hooray!) but my doctor told me it is OK to let my husband think I still can't vacuum, do laundry, or any of the other "hard stuff".
So thanks for the prayers. Hopefully we won't have any more scares before baby gets here in August. And, for those who "believe" in the heart rate determining the sex- it was in the high 170s/low 180s which suggests Girl. But don't believe that- Josh had a high heart rate too. So it could be another hyper boy.

Josh's Hat and Other Updates

Josh has a Cars beanie which he recently decided is his favorite thing to wear. Friday night he wanted to wear it all night- and he looked like a little gangsta with no shirt, his jeans falling off his butt, and his beanie. It was awesome. We especially love that we could see his "underwear"! Just like a real "gangsta"! In other news, we had to make an emergency trip to the hospital on Saturday night to check on the baby because of some heavy bleeding. Baby looked fine in an ultrasound- very active- and the bleeding has stopped, but I'm still on bed rest for the next couple of days which means no holding Josh- which will be a big trial for both of us! Prayers would be appreciated.

Funny Josh

Just some funny things Josh has done in the past few days. (Sorry- no pictures)
  • He loves to give "the baby" kisses. He will lift up my shirt and kiss my tummy. Very cute.
  • This morning while eating his banana, I told him that monkeys also like bananas, so he ran in his room, got his stuffed monkey, and wanted the monkey to have a bite!
  • He really likes the Cars PJ pants his Grandma Weller gave him for Christmas. He always wants to wear them over the pants he has on for the day.
  • He gets a kick out of stealing my chair. If I am sitting at the computer desk, or in the rocking chair, he will come get me, grab my hand, and lead me away from the chair. Then he runs and climbs in the chair and laughs and laughs.
  • He eats his food with his hand- while holding a fork or spoon in the other hand- and then gets concerned when his hand is dirty.
  • He doesn't walk any more. He runs, or he stands still, but he doesn't walk.
  • We got a taller hamper to keep Josh from dumping it out and using it as a stool to stand at the bathroom sink. It kind of worked. He doesn't climb on the new hamper to reach the sink. Now he drags the new hamper out to the washing machine, turns it upside down, climbs up the side, and sits on the washing machine. Lovely.

What a cute kid! I sure love him. We are glad he is in our family.

Josh Loves IKEA

We went to IKEA over the holidays to buy a new bookcase. While we were looking at the bookcases, Josh headed across the aisle to relax on this couch. He just climbed up and made himself at home. He stayed there while we finished deciding on a bookcase. Funny kid.
And, in case you wanted to see the bookcase, here it is. Not in it's final state of organization, but still...

Our "Helper"

Josh recently discovered he could dump the clothes out of the laundry basket and turn it upside down and PRESTO- the perfect thing to stand on and reach the counter in our bathroom! Well, now he has started "helping" clean the bathroom by taking everything from the counters and stacking it in the sink. This is what we walked into our bathroom to find last night: At least the good news is he is learning to put stuff away, right? He really is good about cleaning up other things and putting them where they actually go. What a funny kid!

Elder Scott Mathie

My little brother went into the MTC on December 30th. My parents are now officially empty-nesters. Luckily they have plenty of grandkids near by to keep them busy! Here is a picture of Scott on the cold, snowy day he was dropped off at the MTC. They don't do the program anymore that they used to do when missionaries are dropped off. No more movie, etc. Instead, missionaries are just dropped off at the curb. Not sure how I feel about that- I think I would have more "closure" if we had gone to some sort of program or something. It sure made it sad to drive away from Monroe after he was set apart as a missionary! I'm so proud of my little brother and can't wait for him to get out in the field in Philadephia Pennsylvania!
Oh... and we are expecting baby #2 in August. In case you didn't notice the countdown...
