Then we brought out his present- a Lightning McQueen "big boy" bike.
He had to check it out thoroughly.
He couldn't get dressed fast enough- he was so excited to try it out. Of course, the crazy Utah weather meant rain/snow (what would you expect in late April). There was a break in the rain long enough to go around the block. After one lap, he had the pedaling figured out.
And now he's a pro. There was something bittersweet about watching him cruise around the block on his bike. He is such a big boy now! No more baby. We went to McDonalds for lunch, and he sang "Happy Birthday to Me" the whole time we were there. Of course, he wanted to get back home in a hurry to ride his big boy bike again.
And, just as a funny footnote, he got one of those pool toy noodle thingies from my sister. When we got home, we told him it was to take to the swimming pool. But he insists it is a funnel just like Thomas, Percy, and James. Guess we really need to get to the pool more. :)
